For you, the owner
- Compare consultants like for like. Share the same document with several ERPNext consultants and ask each for a quote on the same scope.
- Nothing is ever lost. Every answer saves as you go, so you can stop, think, ask your accountant and come back.
- Fewer surprises after go-live. Decisions about invoices, stock, credit and GST are written down before setup, not discovered during it.
- Keep it current. As your business changes, update the answers and generate a fresh version of the document.
For whoever sets it up
- Scope defined before day one, in the ERPNext language they already work in.
- A customisation register with effort sizes, so the quotation is accurate the first time.
- Fewer discovery calls and no trial and error. They start building sooner and finish sooner.

ERPNext BRD questions, answered
Plain answers for owners deciding how to start an ERP implementation.
What is a Business Requirements Document (BRD) for ERPNext?
A BRD is the written description of how your business should run inside ERPNext: what you sell, how you invoice, how stock and credit are handled, what reports you need. It is the brief the implementation team works from. ConfigPilot writes it from your answers in plain English, with every item marked Standard, Configuration or Customisation.
How long does a BRD normally take?
Done the usual way, a basic BRD takes at least 7 days of sittings with a business analyst or consultant, and a detailed BRD takes months. With ConfigPilot you answer plain questions online whenever you have time; the document is generated when you are ready, with no meetings to schedule.
What do Standard, Configuration and Customisation mean?
Standard means ERPNext already does it with nothing to set up. Configuration means it is switched on and filled in with your details, without code. Customisation means something has to be built. The document marks every item so you know what you should be paying for.
Do I still need an ERPNext consultant?
Usually yes, for the setup itself. The difference is that you arrive with the requirements written down, you know exactly which items need building, and you can ask several consultants to quote on the same document. You can find consultants on the ConfigPilot marketplace.
How much does it cost?
Everything before the document is free: describing your business, checking what we understood and answering the questions. The Basic BRD costs ₹7,999, paid only when you want the document.
Which businesses is ConfigPilot for?
Indian MSMEs planning an ERPNext implementation: traders and distributors, manufacturers, job-work units, services firms, retailers, contractors, agri and food processors, and e-commerce sellers. The questions are pre-filled with the usual choices for your kind of business.
Is the document only for ERPNext?
Yes. ConfigPilot is built for ERPNext, the open-source ERP, including its Indian GST compliance and HR apps. The wording matches how ERPNext works, so your implementation team can act on it directly.
